"Everyone expects about 30% of the generation mix will be based on renewables, especially when Malaysia is embarking on the Third-Party Access System. This is where we position ourselves as the gas provider for the country, and gradually switch away from coal to a cleaner generation mix." |
The company has begun transformation of the procurement departments to align these with its strategic objectives. According to Siti Noorshaznee Tajuddin, the Acting Senior Manager for Fuel Procurement & Purchasing Unit, the role of procurement goes beyond cost savings. It is also to mitigate risk, improve quality and integrate sustainability into all aspects of the organization.
Her hard work and dedication was rewarded recently when her department received the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) Corporate Certification Standard Award. This is a globally-recognised award for the professional and positive attitude exhibited by Siti Noorshaznee and her team towards improving their procurement policies and strategies.

"The hardest part was to get all the evidence to support our submission. We needed to revisit and review all the policies that we had. We cannot be comfortable with what we have now. When we were preparing for our submission, we noticed that a lot of the required evidence were scattered around, and not compiled and properly documented." |
Although it was a challenging journey, Siti Noorshaznee also agreed that the process of submitting for CIPS certification helped her and her team to examine their processes more critically, which strengthened her understanding of company processes at a deeper level, and also further enhanced her knowledge and passion for procurement.
